unstem.me
Web app that turns a YouTube, SoundCloud or Instagram URL into four separated stems (drums, bass, vocals, other) — built for DJs and producers.
unstem.me takes a URL — YouTube, SoundCloud, or Instagram — and gives you back the four separated stems (drums, bass, vocals, other) of the track. It's the tool I wished existed every time I was prepping a set or sampling something for a remix. So I built it.
What it's for
If you DJ, produce, or remix, you already know the problem. You hear a track you want to flip and you need the parts: just the vocal to fly over a different beat, just the drums to layer under something else, the bass isolated so a new kick can sit underneath, the melodic "other" stem to chop and resample. Until recently this meant buying stems from the few labels that bothered to release them, or sinking an evening into editing software.
unstem.me does it in about thirty seconds. Paste a URL, wait, download four files.
A few things that make it nice to use
- Paste, don't upload. It pulls straight from the URL — no exporting to MP3 first, no dragging files around.
- Share links open instantly. If someone already separated the track you pasted, you get the stems immediately instead of waiting in line again. The same trick works for
unstem.me/<videoId>deep links — handy for sending a friend the result. - Instagram carousels work. Posts that pack multiple videos into one URL let you pick which clip to separate before the job runs.
- It's free. No account, no daily limit, no upsell.
Why I built it
I make and play electronic music as Brian Stanley — releases on Beatport and Spotify, sets on SoundCloud. Stem separation is one of the things AI got very good at in the last couple of years, and I kept wanting it on tap while I was working. I'm an AI engineer the rest of the time, so the project sat right at the intersection of both halves of what I do — which is honestly the kind I have the most fun with.
Try it
Live at unstem.me. Paste a track URL. If it's been separated before, you'll have the stems instantly. If not, give it about thirty seconds.
